Kid Rodelo
by Louis L’Amour

A western told by God. Kid Rodelo served one year in prison for a robbery he was not involved in. The real thief escapes from prison and he and Rodelo and two other escapees and a girl head across the desert with the stolen gold to an awaiting boat in the bay at Baja California. Most of the book involves their traipse across the desert. They are pursued by Yaki-Indian bounty hunters. It turns out that Rodelo wants to return the gold to prove his honesty.
