True Grit
by Charles Portis

A western novel told in the first person by a woman about her adventure to punish her fatherís murderer. It was made into a movie twice. Both movies are excellent. The second one adheres closely to this novel and uses dialogue from it. It is an outstanding novel. However, the ending in the first movie version is better.
