Celebrations of Life
by Rene Dubos

A view of the environmental and social problems of the western world. He draws on deep knowledge of biology, medicine, and chemistry and a lot of personal experience. Humans are manipulators of nature. Wherever we go we try to surround ourselves with a semitropical savanna-like environment. Human nature implies technology and science. He is optimistic: problems that science has created can also be solved by science.
