The Covenant
by James Mitchner

A novel that gives the history of South Africa from prehistoric times up to 1980. It is purported to be the best history yet written of that country. It is generally interesting and sometimes exciting. I especially enjoyed the history of the Zulus.

The main focus is on the Africanners who believe God made a covenant with them to rule South Africa. Many parallels with the state of Israel are apparent, but not explicit.

Year Read: 1986
