The Decline of American Liberalism
by Arthur Ekirch

A valuable history of America up to 1950. It is well written and scholarly and filled with facts. The major fault is that he does not define liberalism clearly. As people who held classical liberal values changed, Ekirch still calls them liberals rather than ex-liberals. So he calls the FDR fascists liberals instead of referring to the Old Right as the true liberals. It is confusing.
