Frankenstein Book 1: Prodigal Son
by Dean Koontz

The legend continued 200 years later. Victor Frankenstein is still creating monsters and the first one he created is still alive under the name Deucalion. The doctor is a mad genius who intends to create enough super-human creatures to take over the world and eliminate all humanity. Deucalion has become more humane and is intent on stopping the doctor. The action takes place in New Orleans. A pair of young detectives stumble on the situation while investigating serial murders. One detective is female. She and her partner are falling in love, but no moves have been made yet. She has an autistic, kid brother who will have a bigger role in book 2. Koontz is back in form with page-turning action and humorous banter.
