The Key to Midnight
by Dean Koontz

A sci-fi thriller told by God about a beautiful blonde living in Kyoto, Japan where she sings in and owns a nightclub. When she was 20 years old, 10 years ago, she was kidnapped and given a new identity and false memories of her past, and the memories of her real past were erased. The title refers to the dead end her shrink leads her to through hypnosis when he tries to get her to remember the first 20 years of her life. Lots of danger and suspense as she and an American detective try to figure out what happened to her and why and powerful forces try to stop them. The story peels away the layers of mystery and finally explains it all in the last few pages. Well done.
