The Lonesome Gods
by Louis L’Amour

A good western epic. Told mostly by the hero and partly by God. Well written. A page turner. Set in the deserts of California and in early Los Angeles. A Spanish aristocrat wants to kill his grandson (the hero) because the boy’s father was not an aristocrat and was not even Spanish. The title refers to the gods of the ancient Indians.
