The 5th novel told by assassin, Matt Helm. He is assigned to beat up a female agent to make it appear that the agency suspects her of dealing with the enemy. She dies while her is beating her. He takes her place as hostage to foil the enemy and to assassinate an American scientist already in their custody. Well written. Hard boiled. Amoral.
