The Outlaw Josie Wales
by Forrest Carter

The original title of this book was Gone to Texas. The title was changed to agree with the name of the movie that was derived from it. The book is very much like the movie. Many scenes and lines in the film are taken from this book. The spirit of all the characters is also the same. Excellent. Unfortunately, Wales is a bank robber in the book. The movie makes him better by omitting this. Also Clint Eastwood is more impressive physically than the character in the book.

Year Read: 2002
