The Passover Plot
by Hugh Schonfield

A plausible explanation of the life of Jesus and his "resurrection." Other accounts are either pro-Christian or anti-religion. This is neither. It is pro-Jesus and pro-Jewish. His dissection of the four gospels is masterful, but he does not criticize the OT and he goes to great lengths to exonerate the Jews of responsibility for the persecution and crucifixion of Jesus. He is not at all successful in this. Nevertheless, his account of what probably happened is reasonable and pretty much the same as my own reading of the NT.
