The Poisoners
by Donald Hamilton

The 13th novel told by assassin, Matt Helm. He is assigned to find out who attacked a female agent in Los Angeles and why. He makes many anti-California comments. The case escalates when he discovers a conspiracy to increase the noxiousness of the air pollution by injecting catalysts into the air. The book title also pertains to a hypodermic kit and associated poisons that Helm carries with him.

I am getting tired of the now standard plot features of Helm letting himself be captured and tortured, the bad guys telling him their secrets when they should instead be killing him, and all the women throwing themselves at him. Hard boiled. Amoral.

Year Read: 2005
