The Raspberry Tart Affair
by Fred Halliday

A short novel about an American glutton in France who is supposed to be the world’s leading authority on gourmet food. His notes are stolen during as train ride, and he is arrested for killing the conductor. The plot is silly. The sentences are long and contain too many French words, even though the hero doesn’t speak French. It has one good scene where he squeezes information from a woman about his missing notes by lying on top of her.
