The Star Fox
by Poul Anderson

When the world government won’t risk war to save a planet colonized by Frenchmen, a capitalist takes matters into his own hands by sending his own battleship. The Senate Majority Leader at this time is from the Libertarian Party. He is depicted as too dovish and too much of a politician. The liberated French colony declares its independence from the Terran world government at the end.
