Letters from Rothbard to Volker Fund staff members regarding books and special
topics such as Keynes, libertarian strategy, literature, etc. Brilliant.
One article on Frank Meyers shows that Rothbard knew in 1962 all about the
Soviet disarmament proposals. Rothbard humored me in 1967 when he let me think
I was telling him something new.
He recommends these books:
Globe and Hemisphere by J. Fred Rippl. Henry Regnery, 1958.
An Economic History of England in the 18th Century
by T.S. Ashton. Barnes and Noble, 1955.
Quantity and Competition by Lawrence Abbott. Columbia University Press, 1955.
Natural Resources: The Economics of Conservation
by Anthony Scott. University of Toronto Press, 1955.
The Failure of the “New Economics” by Henry Hazlitt.
The Great Depression by Lionel Robbins. Macmillan, 1934.
Man in Modern Fiction by Edmund Fuller. Vintage Books, 1958.
